It is such a perceptual, transparent object, with no specific purpose but itself. It spins for no ulterior reason, indeed for no reason whatsoever, just for the sake of spinning. Yet, at least for me, the very watching of a spinning pinwheel is far from a meaningless endeavor: somehow it takes me away from my regular state of self-absorption –in “to do” chores, mundane anxieties, concerns about the future, in the machine of never-ending interpretations.
